Advisor Ignato Grath - a high ranking advisor and conspirator in the Peldrim Dominion. He is 55 years old when our story begins. Initially stationed at Sage Keep. He is a scheming, manipulative figure.
He and his cult technically have independence, but he unofficially acts as the religious propaganda machine for the Peldrim Dominion, with his manipulation and cunning. Rather than come to his senses, he doubles down and becomes even further entrenched. Becomes more and more unhinged as his religious empire grows. Years into the he wears a skin tight mask and long sleeved and gloved garments to cover his lichdom. Under the guise of his religious cult, he has built an army and technology to harvesting and siphon Nemore directly from the earth.
He is a religious mouthpiece, “true-believer” zealot, who enforces the culture of submission and hierarchy that enables Peldrim Dominion to stay in power and control. Believes it is human destiny to dominate each other and exploit nature; that resources are here for their taking. Wears ornate clothing, . She takes over Advisor Ignato Grath’s work in.
His cult is called Eterna Abunda, built into the ruins of an ancient port city on Caldera Ostra.
He amasses an army of devoted followers, who siphon off of the Nemorence at his discretion. After a long enough period, and having proven themself, a follower can experience “mergence”, wherein they die, ceremonially killed, and are then reborn in undeath, much like how Ignato’s own life force was siphoned off and continually replaced with new Nemore siphoned from the source. They are not zombies, but rather there are two kinds of undead in:
The Revenants (akin to vampires) who feed directly on life energy, with immortal youth but intense cravings for Nemore and can go mad without it, and
Dregils (thralls), who are dependent on being given Nemore: they appear more akin to mummies, decaying corpses, and even skeletons in the cases of those followers who are not receiving full, consistent doses. The world around them withers and dies, it is a reflection of the Nemore that they continue to greedily suck out of it. The world around them is dying, but they are promised “eternal life” by the Endless Bounty
He soon has a life-energy siphoning forearm and hand attachment. He becomes a kind of Techno-Necromancer. With the technology of the forearm, Ignato slowly transforms into a Lich. An undead husk of a person, but a powerful channeler of death magic, an inverted corrupted form of the Nemorence.
